Ontario is the largest producer of American Ginseng in the world. Ontario Ginseng is the most potent and prized form of North American Ginseng.
Ontario is where the American ginseng industry began. Ontario growers (including Atkins Ginseng) had the foresight to develop the first ginseng
research site of significance in North America, located in Delhi, Ontario. The growing of ginseng involves cultural practices that are very strict and
precise. Besides being dedicated, Ontario producers have set standards in the cultivation of ginseng that are being copied around the world, but have
not been matched.

Ontario Ginseng Root,has a long storied history that dates back to 1704 when the root was first discovered by Jesuit priests. Two years earlier in 1702, a
Jesuit priest was in Manchuria, China. There he observed the Chinese use of Ginseng. In his writings he described the medicinal plant to Jesuit priests in
Canada. The Canadian preists, working with Native Canadians, deduced that since the climate in Canada was similar to Manchuria, that they might be
able to find the same plant growing there. After months of searching he was rewarded by the discovery of American (specifically Ontario) ginseng. By
1716 the first shipments of the root to China started and they continue to this day.

Diabetes
Several human studies found that Panax quinquefolius lowered blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. The effect was seen both on fasting
blood sugar and on postprandial (after eating) glucose levels. One study found that people with type 2 diabetes who took Panax quinquefolius before or
together with a high sugar drink experienced less of an increase in blood glucose levels. However, more research is needed.

Cancer
Panax quinquefolius has been shown to inhibit tumor growth. In one laboratory study on colorectal cancer cells, researchers found that Panax
quinquefolius possessed powerful anti-cancer properties.

Colds and flu
In two studies, people who took products containing Panax quinquefolius for 4 months got fewer colds and those who got colds found their symptoms did
not last as long compared to people who took placebo.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
One preliminary study suggests that Panax quinquefolius, in combination with ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), may help treat ADHD.

Immune system enhancement
