Symptoms:
Why do we cough?
There is nothing unhealthy about coughing. It’s a natural reflex that helps to clear respiratory passages of potentially harmful foreign bodies and secretions. If excessive coughing persists, however, it can irritate the mucous membranes.
What is the difference between dry and wet cough?
A dry cough is associated with an irritation or inflammation of the back of the throat, the windpipe or the bronchial tubes and does not produce any phlegm.
A productive or wet cough, on the other hand, expels irritants that may be clogging the respiratory tract.
